(iTunes: HB - D)

Something in color's looking pretty good right about now, eh?

(iTunes: The Album Leaf - Streamside)

When scanning some of these negatives...I may have purposely put smudges and thumbprints on them to see if I ended up liking the way it looked.

(iTunes: The Album Leaf - Another Day)

Another day.

(iTunes: The Tallest Man Alive - I Won't Be Found)

Been outta commission for a while.

Haven't picked up my camera in quite some time.

I apologize for my recent lack of creativity or motivation.

(iTunes: Annuals - Springtime)

One of the worst parts of being in the hospital is that I haven't been able to write down or rather...even think of any jokes or clever observations for the past couple days.

I thought of one joke the entire time.

I got real nervous I was gonna forget it...

So I kept trying to remember it over and over and over.

Then a pen found its way in my room.

And a magazine with a white advertisement found its way in the room.

And that pen's ink found it's way on that advertisements blank area.

And my joke found it's home inside the cover of an old issue of Sports Illustrated.

I was published....in a very very nontraditional way.

And it probably wasn't even that good of a joke.

I was very heavily sedated at the time.

Which is possibly why I got in such a panic as to write my joke down in a magazine out of fear of forgetfulness.

Now I just need to do what I end up doing a whole lot of the time....patiently wait to use the joke at the appropriate time.

But not the traditional time....like the time there's a karaoke night....and there's awkward silence....and they always shout...."hey...does anybody have any jokes?"

I'm talking about the time when I squeeze it into everyday conversation.

Make it flow naturally.

Yea....

(iTunes: Annuals - Hot Night Hounds)

I'll talk instead of my future photography endeavors.

For my Photos 1 Final I'm going to be taking pictures of people and their passions, their hobbies, what they love to do.

This series may take some twists and turns and end up being nothing like I intended...but I think the future of it could lead me down some good creative avenues.

PS. all the black and white shots on here from the last several posts have all been from the negative uploads from my Photo's class.

Love the blend of technology that I'm able to salvage every picture I take and keep it whether or not I get it printed in class.

(iTunes: Annuals - Confessor)

For the next couple of days I stayed in the same hospital room, in pain, recovering from surgery.

I was unable to eat, or drink, or even do much moving on my own power.

Not very fun.

I figured that getting your appendix out would be a pretty simple procedure and I'd be out of there pretty fast.

I figured if the thing that was hurting me in there got taken out of me, I wouldn't be in pain any more.

Not really the case.

Still recovering.

(iTunes: The Annuals - Always Do)

Eventful day.

It started out the night by inviting everyone over to my house to cook dinner.

We ended up having about 17 of us college kids preparing a meal for eachother...setting the table...saying grace...and enjoying eachother's company.

It was great.

Then the night took an unexpected turn.

While the night was coming to a close, I started to feel a pain in my stomach.

I shrugged it off as a mild stomach ache from not being used to eating "real" food...funny how that works...your body adjusts to not eating the normal food when you're on a college campus.

But the pain prolonged....

Throughout the entire night.

Everyone else went home and I stayed home to see if I could sleep off the stomach ache and join everyone tomorrow again.

But the pain would not go away.

So at 4 in the morning...I nervously awoke my brother Carey telling him I might need to be going to the hospital.

He nodded his head then put it back on his pillow.

Then I told him I wasn't kidding and that I was in serious pain.

So he called me an ambulance...and we went to the hospital.

This happened to be the only weekend that my parents were out of state teaching a seminar in Arkansas.

So then I get to the hospital...and hours later...still in pain....and after a series of tests....they finally realize that it's not just a stomach ache....and that I"m actually currently in the process of enduring appendicitis.

So they ordered surgery.

And now I'm in an emergency room with my 17 year old brother...at 7 in the morning on a saturday.

And I was there for the next 4 days.

Rough day.

But I had about 48 different people come by to support me and visit me while I was in there.

And I appreciate all of you who came by.

More tomorrow.

(iTunes: Kings Of Convenience - Failure)

Had an engagement shoot with Debra and Andrew.

We headed to a park not far from the school.

It was actually a pretty good location for this type of shoot.

Might be heading there again next time I have a couple asking for engagement pictures...which if the trend of recentness continues...will be pretty soon.

(iTunes: Coldplay - Kingdom Come)

I find the graffiti in Private School bathrooms to be rather humorous.

(iTunes: Sigur Ros - Suo I Eyrum)

I spent my entire evening uploading the negatives from my Photos class onto the computer.

I now have all of them backed up in file form.

Technology is pretty cool.

(iTunes: Magnet - Duracelia)

I've started shooting for my Photo's final.

I have to shoot 4 rolls and make 10 prints.

I don't imagine it being too difficult.

I like having the motivation to get out and shoot more often.

8 of November

(iTunes: Feist - Now At Last)

I like all the good sports there are around campus.

I'll be in need of shooting a roll for my class...and there will always be people willing to be photographed.

I like that.

I've been taking pictures of this guy since my first year here at school.

Funny how not much has changed.

(iTunes: M. Ward - One Hundred Million Years)

Here's a collection of all the "failed" attempts at Black And White photography.

The thing is, I rather like the way these pictures turn out.

I'm considering making the first one my new desktop background...

There's a sense of peace I have associated with these imperfect pictures.

A sense of fading into the background.

It makes me feel as if I'm a quiet observer in the scene.

(iTunes: Loney, Dear - Ignorant Boy, Beautiful Girl)

I like when the name of the song is the last phrase in the chorus.

...but that doesn't happen very often.

5 of November

(iTunes: Electric President - Insomnia)

I wonder what the world looks like through the eyes of a caricature artist.

4 of November

(iTunes: This Will Destroy You - Happiness: We're All In It Together)

I like working with pictures while listening to instrumental music.

Those who know me pretty well know that Album Leaf is one of my all-time favorites.

While going through these black and white's, I've been listening to alot of Explosions In The Sky and This Will Destroy You.

It just kinda fits the mood I'm in right now.

This picture was from the roll that ended up getting wrecked during the developing process.

It got all torn up and shredded while taking it off the spindle.

But I end up liking the grittiness to these pictures more then the "perfect" ones.

3 of November

(iTunes: Explosions In The Sky - Your Hand In Mine)

Got a ton of black and white pictures from my Photo's 1 class imported to my computer.

Looks like the next couple of posts will be a bunch of those guys.

The semester is coming to a close.

It's been a good one...but it sure can be stressful.

(iTunes: Loney, Dear - Lower Your Head)

I spent about 10 minutes sifting through my cell phone's notes to see if I could put some interesting observation or something clever up on this post.

(iTunes: SIgur Ros - Glosoli)

I will be an active participant of No-Shave November this year.

The last time I went a month without shaving was over the summer.

I'm interested to see how this ends up turning out.

(iTunes: Sigur Ros - Heima)

Happy Halloween.

(iTunes: Sigur Ros - Heima)

This is Caleb.

My newest nephew.

I haven't really taken any other pictures of him accept when he was first born.

My sister Kellie wanted a few fall shots of him.

Then I convinced them to take me to Panda Express to get the last whole punched on my card.

I've been saving my Panda Express card for 2 years waiting to fill it up all the way.

Now I just have to wait for the perfect time to collect all the benefits of a fully punched card.

It's gonna be a good day.

(iTunes: The Smiths - There Is A Light That Never Goes Out)

I've never been so nervous for Halloween.

In the past couple of years I've known exactly what I was gonna be.

And I got that costume idea instantly.

It just stayed with me...and I had it all ready to go.

But this year nothing stood out to me.

I ended up settling for a quick idea.

But I'm hoping next year I'll redeem myself.
